What happens if i sin after i am saved

Those of us who have our souls pointed to Jesus are not walking in the flesh, even if it acts out. Flesh walks in flesh and spirit in spirit. The two are not the same person. Even if they are always seen together. Now there are still a few questions that remain. Is it possible for our spirit, not just the flesh, to turn from God? Can sin committed in the flesh cause us to lose salvation? These are important questions we will be answering in the next few units. I noticed you spoke of church discipline as if you thought it was a bad thing.

Perhaps you saw it carried out in a way that was letter of the law but without the Spirit that should have been behind it. Church discipline is actually biblical although it can definitely be done very wrongly. It is reserved for those who claim to be saved believers who love Jesus yet are engaging in sin from which they are unwilling to repent and will not acknowledge is wrong. There is supposed to be a process which involves first private confrontation in a gentle spirit of love and mercy, coming alongside the person.

It is not supposed to be done with an attitude of condemnation and impatience but mercy. It would make sense between steps to give the person time to consider what was said to them and to be praying for them. If at this point, the person is still demonstrating an attitude of unrepentant un humbled defiance, they are to be regarded as an unbeliever and put out of the church until such time as there is genuine repentance.

Even at this point, other believers should still be praying for them, trying to win them to Christ. A real believer knows that he or she does not live in isolation but in the body of Christ and that sin harms the life of the church and destroys its testimony.

Genuine Christians experience conviction over sin and wish to please Jesus and so are usually willing to listen to someone who has a concern about such things. B If it is not true we have the opportunity to present our side of the story when scripture is actually followed and obeyed.

We should have enough humility to at least listen. I was saved and the holy spirit was with me and talking to me I had sinned and have been away from sin for months and months not years and do not hear the holy spirit anymore.. Dee, please understand that the Holy Spirit is not the signs and revelations. The Holy Spirit can be with us without these things. This is something that almost everyone I speak with deals with. It comes down to being able to walk by faith rather than sight.

Praise God, Ive been searching for and understanding of this question and this explanation is it. This way truly is Good News! Because otherwise, you would still be concerned with gratifying the flesh, so you focus and worship would therefore be split. If you try to focus on Him and also focus on pursuing evil, which is the exact opposite of him, you will be torn in two and will not stand.

Its like having a wife and trying to have a girl on the side at the same time, God is a jealous God. So obeying him by subduing the flesh is part of following him, or else you will be partial to Him.

I think its a mindset and when your mind is set your actions will follow. You have to be concerned with following Him and obeying Him. There is no concern for God in it, its totally isolated and selfish.

I think I describe with my illustration what the Bible means when it says to turn ones heart towards the Lord. Please correct if Im off. Thanks, Matt. Jesus died for our sins once, tells us in Hebrews, so this means he died for all our sins past, present and future.

We have a Covenant with God, Covenant of Grace. So, my question. If we are forgiven do we beg for forgiveness every day. We know of some sin but who knows of all their site. So if the flesh is dead and this is all true, what is to prevent me from ending my life and ending the lusts sooner? Why not skip life if its going to be a struggle with the flesh and the soul?

Whats the point of staying in the flesh any longer? First, if you are dealing with suicidal thoughts it would be best for you to seek help from a mental health professional. The issue with suicide itself is that it is not an action or thought that is in line with God.

It is a thought from the flesh itself. The Bible actually has a passage where Paul says he is torn between a desire to depart this life and be with God or to stay.

My family has dealt quite recently with the suicide of a family member. For the past decade he was withdrawn and isolated himself in anger and depression. He refused to receive help and attempted to self medicate with alcohol. He had broken his relationships with everyone. He was left with nothing and no hope for a future.

Yet we all tried our best to help him. He committed suicide in May of this year. He may not have felt like he mattered. But the aftermath of his action will impact the family and his past friends for the rest of our lives. For example, he hated me. He even tried to provoke me into fights with him. But to this day I still think about him and wish I could have saved him. I still have dreams about him. At his funeral there were friends from decades past who cried over his loss.

Many have had to find help to cope. So to answer your question with personal experience, … the point of staying is love. God has given Christians a purpose. That purpose is to share the Gospel! Do you realize how small a candle flame is? But take someone in a snow storm in the middle of pitch black night and give them that small flame.

I will guarantee you that they will be overjoyed to see it!!! Repentance is a gift of God, and when we sin are we not to ask forgiveness and for cleansing? Are we not to now make a choice to renounce it? It never stops at any age. I ask God to change me more from glory to glory, to be more dead to sin and more alive to doing the right thing. You are right in that we make a choice to either yield to the flesh or to the spirit.

But there is a difference between the mind of the flesh and the mind of the spirit. Repentance means turning to God and away from sin. It means your flesh has. Jesus once washed the disciples feet. Jesus is telling us that the part of us that walks in this world our flesh represented by the feet needs to be washed again, but the rest of us is already clean. The take away from all of this is that when we fall to sin we should indeed ask for forgiveness and keep going to God, but we are already clean.

We just have to keep bringing the flesh under submission keep washing those feet. So if someone has been born of the Spirit of God, there will be something inside of him drawing him back to repentance every time he sins. Beyond that, we can gather from reading in the book of Hebrews that if somebody actually says the blood of Jesus Christ is a despised thing and renounces the salvation he has received, then that person may have lost it all.

But then the Bible immediately says, "But, beloved, we are confident of better things concerning you" Hebrews It is very hard to believe that someone who has been born again will turn that far away from God. But you might ask, if we are new creatures in Christ, why do we even have the capacity still to sin? The answer is that perfection for the Christian awaits us in heaven: "When this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: 'Death is swallowed up in victory.

We are united with Jesus at salvation, but we are being progressively transformed into His nature. The Bible says, "We all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory. The apostle John said, "If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

He will come again, not to deal with our sins, but to bring salvation to all who are eagerly waiting for him. Skip to main content. Search only: All News TV. In John 13 , Jesus compared salvation to taking a bath. Just like the people only needed to bathe once, we only need to trust Jesus for salvation once. When we ask Jesus into our lives, our sins are forgiven, and we are completely clean John Our sins are already paid for. Instead, we need to admit our sin and turn away from it. If salvation is like a bath, this process of confession and repentance is like a foot washing—repeat as often as necessary. Reading the Bible and applying it to our lives is how we discover our feet are dirty in a spiritual sense.
