Thanks again flipkart. Shushovan Dey Certified Buyer , Kolkata. I started reading Sherlock Holmes stories in childhood believing it they are true incidents : This was due to excellent way author Doyle narrated the story in the perspective of a doctor.
I purchased the complete collection for my archive. I even visited the Sherlock Holmes museum in Baker street, London when I had been there some years ago, being his fan. One can learn to look into situation And about the book, who doesn't like sherlock holmes anyway? I preferred this one over the other "complete sherlock holmes" books here because this one clearly mentioned "unabridged".
All in The book was delivered within the stipulated date mentioned by flipkart. That's a good service. And about the book, it's awesome. Nice binding and fairly good paper quality. The printing is also really good and includes the original illustrations of the story. Really more than worth for the price.
I was first wondering whether this single book will contain the entire collection. But I was amazed, all the four novels and 56 short stories are in there. The book's a bit heavy though, like a dict Abhinandh Babu Certified Buyer. I recently ordered the book and received it within the time in an excellent condition. Shashank Kumar Certified Buyer. Package was bad. And there ends the duo's epic friendship. The Case-Book of Sherlock Holmes By the time Conan Doyle got round to his final collection, he had clearly had it up to his moustache with Sherlock. The stories are pretty straightforward riddle-solving capers, mostly set back in Victorian London, though not really fixed to any particular chronological moment.
But for anyone in a hurry, the most interesting of the 12 are The Blanched Soldier and The Lion's Mane because they are the first time Conan Doyle breaks protocol and allows Holmes himself to narrate proceedings. The Lion's Mane is particularly worth a stab as it's set after Holmes' retirement, where we learn he has swapped his houndstooth cap for a beekeeper's bonnet, tending bees and flowers in a coastal Sussex cottage.
Still, if we've learned anything from Conan Doyle, it is that mystery is a stubborn mistress, and wherever Holmes goes, she's never far behind. With invention, imperialism and industrialisation all charging through the era, there was plenty to inspire the authors of the time. Charlotte Runcie rounds up the definitive Victorian novels.
From stolen paintings to shocking murder mysteries, these suspenseful stories are awash with terrible crimes. You may have watched a dozen TV and film adaptations but have you read the books?
