Who is zeenat mangi
Even though I continued to support my family financially, I always felt guilty about not having provided my kids a home where they lived with both their father and mother. I had a lot of regrets about not having spent much time with them when they were young.
You have been in show business for more than four decades and have seen a lot of success, and a little failure, during a highly celebrated career. How have you managed to retain a top position in the industry for so long? I am disciplined, professional, talented and easy to work with. I enjoy acting. I understand the business and craft of acting well and have a good understanding of the cinema of both India and Pakistan. These qualities and characteristics have contributed to my success in show business but the real reason for my longevity in the decidedly fickle industry is my resilience.
I can bounce back from the greatest of failures and the worst of setbacks. I am a warrior and a fighter. Like the phoenix, I rise from my own ashes. Not many people can do that. There have been several times in my career when people have written me off but I have always bounced back and proven my detractors wrong.
The failures hurt me financially and socially. They affected my standing in the industry and I was out of work for a long time. I became penniless. I lost my home and my car. I lost some so-called friends. Those were tough times, no doubt, but I did not let them affect me personally.
I handled adversity with strength, courage, resilience and dignity and did not let bad times kill my spirit. I could have become depressed and started indulging in alcohol and drugs but I did not do that. I am a fighter. I continued to have faith in myself and in God.
And I fought back. After Yes Boss, a lot of people started talking of me packing up bags and returning to Karachi where no films were being at the time. They claimed that my career in show business was done and over with.
Those people, of course, had no business writing me off. No one but God can do that. I kept my head high and continued to go to my office in Evernew Studios. People would talk behind my back and seeing them whisper would strengthen my resolve to prove them wrong. I was determined to fight my way back to success and was not let anyone, or anything, stop me from doing that.
So, I started working in the theater with Amanullah Khan. People said that I had driven the last nail by taking up theater but they were wrong. After working on stage for just five days, I was noticed and received a call from an investor in Europe who wanted me to make a film for him.
We started talking and were very soon launched Yeh Dil Aap Ka Hua which went on to become one of the most successful films of Pakistan. No one is entitled to a worry-free life. Adversity is a part of life.
