Paleo can you eat too much fat

I went down 2 lbs in 2 weeks and now I am up to where my weight loss is about. It is extremely frustrating considering my husband lost about 6 lbs on the diet and he is eating nuts and peanut butter with apple snacks and more food than I am.

The first time I did Paleo, I made a lot of almond flour things like the rye bread and also banana muffins and ate almond butter and a lot of nuts. I lost a ton of weight. This time I am not even eating that with the exception of making a Paleo mug cake where I cut out the butter and coconut sugar so that it was low in calories and fat.

I am very frustrated. I try to avoid those foods as well. I wish someone could help me debug this a I am really doing everything I know to do apart from just not eating anything. I have kept an extensive food diary a well. I know it sounds counter intuitive but that can often be the case.

Otherwise, this could really be due to either your hormones or gut health, or both. I would really recommend seeing a functional medicine practitioner or naturopath and get some hormone testing done. We work with lots of different cases during our 9-week paleo program and we usually get to glimpse of what people are eating through our tracking app.

Did anyone else experience this? Paleo seems to be the more sustainable diet for me personally but I agree that, like any diet, it requires a balance with exercise. Interesting, thanks for sharing your story.

I find paleo feels healthier to me because I love my fruit and veggies and I sometimes feel that keto limits their consumption way too much. Great article! I went on the whole30 plan years ago and dropped 20 lbs in a month! I was also exercising at the time… Although I gained most the weight back I did change the fact I no longer take cream or sugar in my coffee.

When I am on the paleo diet I feel more energized and I am not always hungry!. I can never be a strict paleo person as i do enjoy a cocktail here and there and I absolutely love cheese! Before Christmas I was taking in a crazy amount of carbs and drinking lots.. I decided enough was enough and i started eating paleo as of Jan 1st. I do not have a scale at home but all my clothes are still tight :.

I think I will just give it more time and hopefully in a few months I can start seeing results! To monitor bodyweight, estimating bodyweight routinely is significant. Some research suggests that the health claims hold water. Another article, published in the journal Australian Family Physician in January , reviewed clinical trials that explored the effect of paleo on health markers including weight, inflammation, and insulin health. Some of the studies found similar evidence that the paleo diet may be linked to weight loss, lower blood pressure, and improved blood lipid levels — but the article concluded that because of the small sample sizes, short duration, and the similar frameworks of most existing studies on this diet, further research is needed to prove whether it lives up to the bold health claims made by some of its proponents.
